AI for engineering consultancies, grounded in evidence

We put AI for engineering consultancies to work on tenders, technical reports and approval conditions. It finds evidence and prepares drafts for your reviewers, with gaps made visible before a document goes out.

Where AI for engineering consultancies can help

AI can help turn approved project files and a new brief into a checklist, an evidence search and a first draft. For Australian engineering and environmental consultants, the useful starting point is a repeatable document task with a clear reviewer and agreed source files.

  • Bid compliance checking: turn a tender pack into a requirements checklist, including mandatory attachments, page limits and nominated personnel. Link each requirement to evidence or flag it as missing for the bid manager.
  • AI tender writing: prepare response sections from approved project summaries, staff profiles and methodologies. Preserve the difference between work your firm has completed and work you propose to do.
  • Technical report drafting: organise approved field notes and supplied results into your report structure. Keep sample identifiers, dates, units and qualifications attached to their sources, with missing inputs flagged.
  • Approval conditions: prepare a register from the supplied approval documents, retaining the original condition wording and source reference. Suggest evidence needed for review, rather than declaring a condition satisfied.
  • Finding past work: retrieve a relevant project example with its location, scope and documented limitations, so a director can judge whether it supports the new proposal.

What still needs a technical reviewer

Your qualified people still make the technical decisions and approve what leaves the firm. AI does not certify a design, validate a model, interpret an uncertain site condition or sign off compliance. A summary of supplied results is not an independent check of those results.

We keep unsupported statements and conflicting sources visible. An expired certificate must stay expired in the output. An unconfirmed field observation must not become a finding. Your reviewer decides what evidence is adequate and what needs further investigation.

See a tender review on invented data

Our tender review demo illustrates how requirement checks and sourced drafting can work together. It checked 52 requirements, found and ranked 18 issues, and drafted four response sections with a source behind every sentence.

The demo caught all 15 problems planted in advance, with zero false alarms. It uses invented data and is not client work. Those test results are not a prediction for your bids. Your workflow needs its own tests, using the documents, gaps and review standards that matter to your firm.

How we start with your firm

We start with one completed tender or report and the people who prepared and reviewed it. We need the source pack, the final document, known corrections and someone who can explain what made the job difficult.

  1. 01
Review, about two weeksIn the first week, we trace the document through search, drafting and checking, and record the time each takes. In the second, we agree the first workflow, required sources, review points and checks it must pass. A better template or existing tool comes first.
  2. 02
Set up and build, typically two to six weeksWe set up the tool or build the workflow in your systems. We test known omissions, conflicting project records and unsupported claims, then train the users and reviewers. Handover includes the workflow and its documentation.
  3. 03
Support, month to monthIf you want ongoing support, we check results, fix issues and review changes with you. You own everything we build. The fixed fee is agreed in writing before starting, with no lock-in contracts.

How we handle project and client documents

We build in your own systems, usually Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, and agree which project folders the workflow may use. We check access before connecting a document library, including restrictions on client reports, commercial submissions and staff information.

We use business-grade AI accounts that do not train on your data. A confidentiality agreement (NDA) is available and working copies are deleted at the end. We agree the data handling in writing, including where information will be processed, before using project material.

Questions

Common questions

AI can prepare parts of a report from approved material, such as a project description or a summary of supplied field notes. We link factual statements to their sources and flag missing evidence. Your technical reviewer remains responsible for interpretation, conclusions and approval. We test the drafting task against a completed report before wider use.

AI can compare tender requirements with the evidence you supply and prepare a checklist of supported items, gaps and questions. It cannot guarantee that a bid will be accepted. Your bid manager confirms interpretations, resolves gaps and approves the submission. We can explore this through a focused AI strategy review.

We compare the current task with the tested workflow, counting time finding sources, drafting time, reviewer corrections and missed requirements. Faster drafting only helps if checking does not absorb the saving. Together we agree a target and examples the workflow must handle correctly. Time freed is capacity your team can use, rather than an automatic cash saving.

You may only need a clearer checklist, an organised evidence library or better use of tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot. We assess those options first. A custom AI workflow makes sense when a repeatable checking or drafting task needs review steps that the simpler options cannot provide.
